A good day out

Well my call for someone to model for some photos was answered.
A great day was had by all, so happy with the pictures, ghostly and ethereal,
some are a bit scary too, in my sketchbook they go! Here's a few...

Mums are good

Look what I'm getting for Christmas, thanks to the advice of Nat Walker.
I asked my mum to get me this, even though she has no money.
Comes with 100 photos, and it will fit inside my bag, unlike the wide instax I have
Yaaay.

PJ Harvey

Great idea, using cut up images of porn and the black censored strip to create the lyrics to the song.

Birds with style

expensive but cute and clever
there's more here...The Curiosity Shoppe

I Love Dust

Working for these guys would be pretty good. They do good shit...

Need Need NEED to see this

"Girl Power" an much needed look into Graffiti created my women!
In my opinion, just because we have ovaries doesn't mean we haven't got 'balls'.
Massively making my want to crack out my spray cans again, anyone want to join me?

M-city's giant painting in LA, very cool

A bit more

Couldn't help myself and had to post these.
I think someone should buy me one.
His name is Pavel Sidorenko and here is his stuff

Alexandra Valenti Photography

Quite similar to Mark Borthwick, but with a more Americana feel.
I think it's clear that I like this kind of ethereal photography. I'm going to try some of my own if anyone wants to model like Millie did for me.

Glennz

his work is kind of geeky, I like it. Not sure about them as t shirts but hey. his work has humour to it and looks good, have a gander.

GLENNZ

here's some to look at now if you are lazy...

A film about Facebook

And it looks quite good

Pencils FTW

This fellow is called Sam Thomas,

Morgan Blair

This is totally my style of illustration, if that's even what it is.
I love images drawn on wood, I love patterns and I love this style of drawing.
And no matter how good Photoshop and Illustrator get, people will still make this kind of work, a reassuring thought I think.

how cool is this

So simple yet so cool, the fact no one has thought of it before doubles it's coolness.

Bill Hicks

Yes, I know it's nothing new but Bill Hicks is a legend!
Here are some of my favourite clips of him, it's a shame he isn't still around to tell us his opinions of some of the shit that's going down as we speak.

More cool stuff

M.A.Alford

Dan Funderburgh

It's probably a tad premature but I'm always thinking about what furniture and colour scheme I want to have in my house when I'm older.
It's just about going to be the coolest house one earth, you'll have to come and visit when I'm rich and have pissed my money away on expensive giant lamps, glass tables and vintage sofas.
When I saw this guy's work I immediately thought 'want that!' his print work is stylish and has a sense of humour.
Obviously this would be on one wall in the cloakroom dear.
Go on his website, its good Dan Funderburgh

Got to love Bush

Kate Bush that is.
I love female vocals and Kate Bush's are so good! The way she writes songs blows my mind, it's the kind of music I could never write, the lyrics and the freaky melodies are so unusual and ahead of their time, she was the first woman to score a number one single in the UK which a song she wrote herself. I think that's a pretty big accomplishment and another reason why I love her.
Here is an especially creepy song, the thing I like about it so much is the way you can visualise the story so well, the imagery is ace!
Nice one Kate, her new album is cool too.

Good TV

I've noticed TV consists mainly of constant episodes of Come Dine With Me and terrible new bbc3 comedy. There is some good stuff though, Rich Halls 'The Dirty South' was amazing, and I randomly stumbled across The Genius Of Design, on at about 2 in the morning.
I think everyone should watch both.

The Fountain

I've been meaning to write about this book for ages, it's a graphic novel by the director Darren Aronofsky who did Requiem for a Dream and PI which are both awesome films and the artist Kent Williams.

The artwork isn't for everyone but I love it, fans of old school super hero style comic artists like Jack Kirby might not like it, as it's artwork seems to be done with ink and paint in a loose and energetic way.
The novel has also been adapted into a film starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, I thought it was going to be shit, as I couldn't really imagine the meanings in the book transferring easily to film, but it worked, at least I thought it did, and it's worth a watch.

There's a past present and future in the story, the past being an attack on a Mayan sacred temple by 16th century Spanish troops , the present is a happy couple who are torn apart by cancer, and the future is more of a symbolic place where the lead character is trapped in space with the tree of life, and has taken it upon himself to preserve however by doing this is killing it.

It all sounds a bit mental but you get it when you read it, and the good thing is you can read it in about 2 hours. I think the main point of the novel is coming to terms and accepting death, the protagonist trys to avoid death only to realise that he wants to die and that death is a release.
Anyway, read it.

A little bit of my own

This is the first time I've put my own work on here but I've been messing around with my cameras and some photoshop and until I get films developed, here's some of the digital shots I have taken of my beautiful friend Millie, who agreed to model for me.
I really want to experiment with photography, so here is some, hope you like them.

The Golden Filter

Just got their album Voluspa and it is very nice.
This is the first track, crap image on the video though so just ignore that.

Claire Scully

Girls are awesome, here's another one.
I love drawing patterns, it's so therapeutic and looks so striking when you've finished, I'm doing loads of patterns at the moment, and I want to do one as intricate as Claire Scully's work.
I also love the nature theme, wood grain is so good to draw. I'm messing about with a bit of it recently.
Can't beat it!!

Miss Van

I absolutely love the colours and how slutty the girls are.
Only just found her work and it's suprisingly just the kind of thing I like, nice and new and fresh.

Blog Neglect

My aim is to avoid blog neglect, a condition I have been suffering from the past couple of weeks (it's very painful and sore by the way).
To combat blog neglect I will post something every two days, along with a varied diet and exercise this should enable me to grow my blog back.
